Tool: Solid Explorer

There are tons of file explorers out there on Google Play, some free like ASTRO File Manager, ES File Explorer or some where you’ll have to pay like the famous Root Explorer. The market is there but kind of saturated as more and more competition appears without really proposing anything really differentiating. That is when I discovered Solid Explorer.

The first thing shocking about this explorer is its look! Yes a good application on android does not have to be ugly and unfriendly! Solid Explorer offers a really nice interface where the menu are not only well organized but are also particularly appealing. It offers two themes built-in, a clear one that you can see in the image attached, and a dark one for those of you preferring the dark side of the force.

The second shocking part are the two panels! How come nobody thought about it before (or maybe I simply never saw it) it is so practical when you want to move files around. One open on your SD-card, the other on your internal memory, just perfect.

Solid Explorer also allow Root access so you can finally do everything you need to do from one single and friendly interface.

Don’t get me wrong, Solid Explorer is not just nice to look and friendly to use, it is also one of the most versatile and powerful explorer out there:

  • you can drag and drop files/folders from a panel to another
  • you can access network drives using FTP, SFTP and SMB
  • you can open and create archives, what make irrelevant the use of an external software for this purpose
  • you can preview the pictures
  • you have an indexed search!!
  • so much more…

The list of feature that this file explorer is long and I don’t want to spoil your discovery of this great tool. I invite you to try this app that is free so far but will not remain as such, it is worth you time and will probably be worth your money (if the developer choose a good selling price).
