[Tool] APN Database

Android ToolsDear Gals and Guys,

After developing some custom roms and flashing so many phones for so many providers something hit me, there is no database of all settings for all operators in the world.

Unfortunately, most of the time I had to re-enter my Access Point Name (APN) information over and over again. Until I found this tool: APN Backup and Restore. As it’s name states it, it will allows you to backup and restore your APNs.

Now, what happens when your phone is fully wiped and you did not think to backup you APN(s)?? So far you had to re-enter manually the information and look in different sites in order to find what you were looking for.

For each operator, you need to do a search and hope to find the information you are looking for, spread very often on multiple sites and forums.

Hopefully this page will solve this problem, it will provide all the known configuration for each mobile operator per country and will generate an XML file that you can then import using APN B&R.

The file downloaded has to be place in the folder /sdcard/ApnBackupRestore to be used.

With this new tool, I hope to provide all this information but in an efficient and user friendly way. You can also export the data and use APN Backup & Restore to restore you APN settings.

One last thing, if you are willing to contribute and provide information about your operator, you can do so following this structure:

Due to a change in ICS, APN B&R needs to be installed as a system application to be able to modify the APN list.

I invite all of you to participate to make this tool as complete as possible.
Feel free to make suggestions and let me know what you think about the initiative.
