Best 7″ budget tablets

Amazon Kindle FireMore and more tablets propose more for less, more battery life, more functions, lighter, more power but I am still to wonder what makes a good tablet and for that my answer is clear: a balanced compromise between functionalists, user experience and price.

For this reason I decided to give you my personal selection of the best 7″ tablets currently on the market and to share with you the pros and cons for each of the selected devices. Let’s also be clear, the selection is so big that there is no way to go thru all devices available out there

  1. Huawei Mediapad: My daily driver and I love it, my review is available. This is a quite unknow tablet but still a very good one, it would deserve the second position if it was not for it’s price out of contract ($99 with contract) unfortunately the community has to grow.
    • Pros:
      • Excellent build quality
      • Good battery life
      • Very good screen
      • Micro-USB compatible charging port
      • Fast HSPA+ Network
      • Bluetooth 3.0
    • Cons:
      • No pen technology like the HTC Scribe or the Samsung NoteT-Mobile Springboard
      • Bad Camera Quality / No Flash
      • Limited to HoneyComb 3.2 for the T-Mobile version
      • No capacitive button
      • No real 4G
  2. HTC Flyer: You can access the full review hereand read in detail what make this table the best available table available. ($229 for the WiFi version)
    • Pros:
      • Great Build quality
      • The Scribe technology that allows you to write on the screen
      • Exist in GSM version
      • Expandable memory
      • Micro-USB charger
      • Good battery life
    • Cons:
      • HoneyComb is obviously no optimized for this tablet
      • Screen resolution of only 1024×600
  3. Samsung Galaxy Tab: This is the first generation of galaxy Tab what made its price go down but still it is one of the most pleasant 7″ tab to use, and with a very active community it seems ICS will soon be available for it. ($225 for the WiFi only version)
    • Pros:
      • Running under Gingerbread, this tablet is fast, no lag
      • Can be used as a cellphone
      • Expandable memory
      • Great community support
    • Cons:
      • Proprietary connector/charger
      • Screen resolution of only 1024×600
  4. Nook TabletBarnes & Noble Nook: this tablet has nothing to be ashamed of compare to its main competitor the Kindle Fire, on the contrary for the same price it offers more ($199 for the 8gb version)
    • Pros:
      • Interface (some will love it, others will hate it)
      • Ratio price/specs
      • Micro-USB charger
      • Very good screen quality
    • Cons:
      • Interface (some will love it, others will hate it)
      • no GSM version
      • No camera
      • No GPS/Bluetooth
  5. Amazon Kindle Fire: The Amazon answer to the iPad and the Nook, a nice little tablet with a very active community
    • Pros:
      • Interface (some will love it, others will hate it)
      • Ratio price/specs
      • Access to all the Amazon content: movies, books, music, magazines…
      • Free cloud storage for all Amazon content
      • Micro-USB charger
    • Cons:
      • Interface (some will love it, others will hate it)
      • No exchange support out of the box
      • No expadable memory, 8GB internal (approximately 6GB available for user content)
      • No camera
      • No GPS/bluetooth
      • No GSM version
      • No physical volume button!!
      • Screen resolution of only 1024×600
